Bennett Bean Studio joined RugMark because of a dedication to not only avoiding child labor, but to actually doing something about it...to educate children who would not have had that opportunity before and to make clear to the buying public that the rugs Bennett Bean Studio produces are not tainted by child labor.
Bennett got started making rugs in the same way he begins everything - he wanted a rug. But, of course, being an artist, he didn't want just any rug--he wanted the perfect rug. For the past five years he has been creating designs with that perfection in mind, partnering with a group of fine rug weavers in Nepal.
Bennett Bean rugs are artist rugs. They are not based on current trends of home decor, but rather come from personal experience and interest in forms and colors. They are a cross- pollination of the many and varied ideas and products coming from the members of Bennett Bean Studio.
Having developed an international reputation for his ceramics and work in the design field, over the last 40 years Bennett Bean has turned his attention to rug design. Based on this lengthy and successful artistic career, he has developed a clear sensibility and it’s on this sensibility that his studio’s designs are based.
