Watchful eyes, discerning sketches, intuitive color selection, excellent materials and expert hand knotting are some of the elements that come together to create the luxurious limited-edition and custom rugs of Deliante Designs LLC. Danielle David Grinnen, artist and designer, takes care that all carpets are designed and made with integrity, which is why she signed-up with RugMark when she launched her rug business in 2005.
Danielle’s art and designs show inspiration from landscapes and seascapes as well as the people and details of her surroundings. Danielle grew up in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, so her youth was surrounded by the comfort of mountains. She graduated from Bridgewater College, Bridgewater, Virginia, majoring in fine arts and now lives in the Northern Neck of Virginia, where rivers and their creeks curl around every bend.
She has traveled through parts of Southeast Asia, Western Europe and North, Central and South America. Her travels have reminded her to slow down and take in the deep richness of nature and people in her daily life. Each design is an exploration of these visuals through the process of sketching and painting with oil, acrylic and watercolor paints.
Danielle has a background in orchestrating space, color and texture for an architectural firm so an appreciation for the place in which each rug will abide is evident. The rugs have a personal feel, as they have been designed and made by hand to create unique textural pieces for the floor. These limited-edition and custom rugs are created with the finest of materials and craftsmanship, in hand-dyed wool, silk and/or hemp, expertly hand-knotted on looms in Katmandu, Nepal. Deliante Designs LLC’s process combines the beauty of traditional knotting techniques, beautiful materials and artistically developed designs.
