In 1983 floordesign moved into a mid-century warehouse in the city's wholesale district, then expanded again in 1989 to their current almost 11,000 square feet. A comfortable multi-line space displaying both carpeting and rugs, floordesign is known for its excellent selection of high-end merchandise and helpful experienced staff. Sales are limited to interior designers, architects, and general contractors.

President J. Patrick Aaron joined the firm in 1981, having previously worked with two showrooms in the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center. Showroom manager Edmundo Luna, who previously worked for Celia Handcrafted Rugs and Fabrica International, left Los Angeles in 1993 to join the company.
